I married the man I love, despite some serious backlash. It may not seem brave, but it took all my courage and guts. I was working with a group of people that loved me, and wanted the best for me. However, when I met my husband, there were some misunderstandings, and they decided that I should not marry him. Six weeks before the wedding day, after invitations were sent, the man I'd asked to marry us told us that he couldn't in good conscience perform the ceremony.
I took a month off, flew away from the situation, and thought, prayed and got good counsel. I discovered I couldn't live without him, and even though people thought we'd be horrible for each other and apart quickly, I went back. We got married in front of the JP, and are still happily married nearly seven years later. There have been some really rough times, but I have never regretted my decision to go against their wishes and marry the man I love.
